Tun Mahathir Launches SG4, Aims To Raise Economy Of 4-States

Former Prime Minister, Tun Mahathir launched SG4 or “State Government 4” which he said is a strategic initiative that aims to develop four main states in the country, namely Terengganu, Kelantan, Kedah, and Perlis.
Mahathir added that these four states, whose majority are Muslim Malays and is under the administration of opposition party Perikatan Nasional. “The initiative is a national political idea that will realise the urgent need to raise the economic status of Malays who are left behind compared to other races, especially on the West Coast of the Peninsula”he said.
According to Mahathir, these states are rich in natural resources, but needs efficient management so that the resources can be shared and enjoyed by all the people in the state. The group of experts in SG4 are willing to appoint other experts to get advice and guidance if needed.
The 99 year old veteran also wants leaders in these states to get out of the mindset and take on the responsibility to ensure that the economy of the people in these four states is strengthened and continues to progress beyond the current situation. In addition, the administration of the state should be based on taw and adhere to the constitution. because it is the basis of effective administration.
In conclusion, the former leader said he hoped that the states under SG4 can reach a level comparable to the states on the West Coast of the Peninsula, both in terms of economy, infrastructure, and social development.
