Chinese BEV maker Nio has reached 600,000 cars delivery milestone in China. It took Nio 75 months to achieve this target. However, it has delivered 100,000 cars in the last five months, with an average retail sales volume of over 20,000 units per month.

Nio is a Chinese electric car startup founded in 2016. In 2018, Nio launched its first BEV, the Nio ES8 full-size SUV. Six years later, Nio’s model line has grown to eight models, including crossovers, fastback SUVs, sedans, and even a wagon. Nio also acquired its F1 and F2 plants from its ex-contract manufacturer, JAC. This helped the NEV brand ramp up its sales in China.
Nio has reached the 600,000 cars delivery milestone
On October 11, Nio shared it had successfully delivered the 600,000th production car to its owner in Nanxiang, Shanghai. The anniversary car turned out to be the Nio ES8 II. It is the second generation of the brand’s first car launched in 2018.

Its happy owner is Sun Wei, an employee at SF Express logistics company. He emphasized that the Nio ES8 was his first electric car. And he has picked it because of the battery swap function. Nio has 2,563 battery swap stations (also known as power swap stations, PSS) across China as of today. 860 of them are located on highways. It is the biggest PSS network in the Middle Kingdom.
Nio started selling cars in June 2018, delivering a hundred units in the first month. In May 2024, Nio deliveries reached 500,000 units. So, it took the automaker less than five full months to reach the 600,000 car delivery milestone.

The Nio ES8 (see specs) is a full-size SUV with dimensions of 5099/1989/1750 mm and a wheelbase of 3070 mm. Inside, it has six seats with a 2 + 2 + 2 layout. The second-gen ES8 offers dual-motor 4WD with a peak power output of 480 kW (643 hp). There are three battery options: 75 kWh for 465 km, 100 kWh for 605 km, and 150 kWh for 900 km. Its price range is 498,000 – 598,000 yuan (70,500 – 84,600 USD).

Customers can also buy the ES8 without a battery (with Battery as a Service subscription) for 428,000 – 470,000 yuan (60,550 – 66,500 USD).
