Tokyo Auto Salon KL returns with epic prizes, exclusive models
KUALA LUMPUR: From stunning displays of iconic automobiles to a once-in-a-lifetime chance of winning an exclusive car, visitors can expect to be thrilled by the second iteration of Tokyo Auto Salon KL, which kicks off next month.
Held from Nov 8-10 at the Malaysia International Trade & Exhibition Centre (Mitec), this automotive extravaganza is an unmissable celebration of Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) culture. It is the only show outside of Japan to be under licence from, and modelled after, the Tokyo Auto Salon.
Now in its 41st year, Tokyo Auto Salon has grown to become one of the top-tiered international shows for both enthusiasts and exhibitors.
The event is hosted in Malaysia by Element X Strategies and MUSE Group Asia, in collaboration with the San Ei Corporation and Tokyo Auto Salon Federation, and supported by FMT.
At a press conference on Oct 8 at Hyatt House here, Element X Strategies CEO Jason Yap shared his excitement, saying: “With 91,000 recorded visitors at our inaugural event last year, we knew we had to step it up.
“Like the original show in Japan, a great deal of planning and preparation has gone into ensuring that the exhibits this year continue to exceed the expectations of fans.”
And they’re certainly set to deliver, with the biggest highlight being the chance to win a coveted Honda Civic FK8R Type R Mugen!
This isn’t just any car – it’s a finely tuned JDM icon – and by adding just RM28 to your ticket, you could drive away with this piece of JDM history.
In addition, over 300 top-tier tuned JDM models, including 15 special cars, will be flown in directly from Japan.
The show will also see the return of legendary tuner Smokey Nagata from Top Secret, alongside iconic exhibits from Veilside, Trust/Greddy, and Option.
Tokyo Auto Salon KL follows the recent GT-R Festival in Penang, which welcomed Nissan’s brand ambassador and father of the modern GT-R, Hiroshi Tamura, who was present at the press conference.
The event will also feature an auto-styling competition judged by top Japanese tuners, car club gatherings, drifting demos, racing simulator challenges, and much more.
Fans can expect exclusive merchandise, including apparel featuring iconic cars like the Nissan GT-R and Honda Civic Type R, and a limited-edition 1/64 diecast Chameleon Nissan GT-R R33 available with any ticket purchase.
